Getting it together...

Students "got the memo" this week of getting organized and creating their own personal work space. I've enjoyed seeing the pictures, office supplies and visuals that each student has proudly added to their work space. I felt that each of the work spaces added organization and gave the students a chance of ownership. So far I've received positive feedback and it brings a little more structure to the overall functioning of the classroom.

Looking forward to another week of job shadows and busy, hard working students!

First Week of Shopping and Cooking

The teachers and students of GHS had a busy first full week of school. I'd be surprised if the students aren't taking a nap after school today. They worked hard this week!! One of the things we did was shop for our weekly cooking class. We kept is simple with peanut butter and jelly, but the students were all assigned a kitchen job to complete the preparing, cooking and cleaning up task within the short period of class time. Divide and conquer AKA teamwork :)

New Beginning

Welcome to another exciting school year!! It is a new beginning for ALL of us at GHS: new classrooms, new teachers, new classes, new experiences, and new memories. I, for one, am very excited for these changes and anticipate a year of successes and empowerment. I have a GREAT group of kids and can't wait to learn from them and witness their growth.

I'm trying to grow too. I'm trying something new by using this blog to utilize as a resource of reflection, home-school connection and evidence of student learning. I plan to post something short and sweet at least once a week. Several exciting things are going to be happening and I can't wait to see them unfold. This will be an easy way to share the "goings-on."

I will also keep this message short and sweet....just to introduce the blog. But real quick, I want to leave with my classroom's motto: PRISM

Positive
Respect
Independence
Support
Meaningful

This is what I want my classroom to exemplify and strive for. I'm very confident in my team and students and just know its going to be a great year.

Thank you for YOUR support and encouraging the INDEPENDENCE of these  bright individuals.

Sincerely,
Isabelle Strong
